Sigh, another weekend come and gone. This was the last of my crazy-busy weekends until our anniversary trip next weekend (CAN'T WAIT).
Friday we had a delicious dinner of steak + pasta and just hung out and relaxed. Josh played some video games and I kept plowing through our third book in our SKANK book club, The Girl Who Played With Fire.
Saturday Josh and I had breakfast together then I was off to Staci + Shane's and we traveled to Mars, PA to Twelve Oaks Mansion for their friends Nikki + Ryan's wedding. They had asked Staci to take pictures and Staci had asked me to help her out!
Here are a few pics from the wedding:
As it was the first Sunday of the month, Josh and I were on worship band duty. The services were great, other than crazy wireless microphone troubles during the first service which were fixed pretty quick. Never experienced those kind of problems before, but our tech guy Tim said it could have been from someone's cell phone or even having to do with the fact that it was raining out. How bizarre is that?? Josh's Gram also came to our church this weekend, which was pretty great seeing her! I miss my grandmas (and granddads) terribly, but I'm so blessed that Josh's Gramma Julie is so like how my Grandma Betty was - always loving, always praying for her family and praising God in all she did.
Of course Josh and I closed out the weekend spending several hours napping Sunday and relaxing together.
I can't believe it's August and Josh and I are approaching our ONE YEAR wedding anniversary! Life just keeps going faster and faster! Hope you all had fun weekends! Did you do anything exciting?

weekend update: July 22-24, 2011
This weekend wasn't very exciting though it was fun for me!
A church in our area held it's first annual volleyball tournament on two sand courts on their church property, so that's what I did with Staci and some other friends Saturday morning. It was hot and good times, but I sure was sore and tired the next day.
Also that evening I assisted my sister in a wedding at Peek N' Peak Resort where it was HOT as all get out, but an absolutely gorgeous wedding. The bridal party was super fun, looked amazing, their flowers were gorgeous and the reception was beautiful.
Exhausting Saturdays result in laid-back Sundays with Josh, though we visited my parents for a few hours which was fun and ate s'mores made with marshmallows toasted over our gas stove.
Here's a favorite pic from the wedding:
This upcoming weekend Josh & I have a wedding reception (Friday night) then Saturday & Sunday we're spending the day (Josh is coming up later than night with Katie's hubby) with the SKANK's at Staci's in-law's cabin and boat. So excited! Can't wait!!
Hope you guys had awesome weekends! Anyone do anything fun?

this one time...
so, this one time i met this cute and talented boy at my good friend Katie & Mike's halloween party. i had no idea that, almost two years later, he would be kneeling in front of me asking me to marry him.
josh and i, wait, correction - I - have been talking about getting married a lot recently. it happens when you are surrounded by friends' weddings and a sister immersed in weddings (photography). josh had told me many times, "the more you talk about it, the longer i'm going to wait to do it." alllll part of the plan i suppose...
my best friend alicia and i spoke yesterday afternoon and she asked me, "you think he's the one?" and i replied, "i've never been more sure of anything in my life."
josh and i planned on having a "fancy dinner" Wednesday evening earlier in the week (he said i could dress up and he'd wear pajamas ;) ). i had this *hope* that josh would propose that night, but really, i told myself it wasn't going to happen, and i knew very well it wasn't.
when i picked josh up for dinner, he was in such a good mood, even allowing me to keep the Romolo chocolate bar i had sorta stolen from him from Rock Erie Awards on Sunday night. i was hungry and excited to eat at the Bel Aire hotel's restaurant (Victor's) where we had actually gone on our first "real date" for Valentine's Day in 2008. i also had just come from church (skit practice) and talked 50 miles a minute on our way to the restaurant. i continued talking as i got out of the car...as we made our way to the restaurant...until josh stopped.
i thought i had missed the door, so i stopped, and he pulled me back to him by my purse. he looked at me and kissed me. then he looked at me and said, "you know that i love you." and when he said THAT, i knew. i knew it was happening, yet i was still shocked and in disbelief. he looked at me, got down on one knee, and asked me that question i had been so excited to hear, "will you marry me?"
then he said, "i have a ring..." and pulled out that beautiful little black box that had inside it an amazing, perfect, princess-cut diamond on a clean, crisp silver band. i of course said yes at this point, and we hugged, smiled, i laughed a lot (no, i didn't cry! amazing, isn't it?? too shocked and giddy i think). i asked him to put the ring on me, we talked a little outside, then went into the restaurant.
and of course their kitchen had already closed.
we decided to go to joe roots which is next door.
yeah, they weren't open, either.
i decided to take us to Applebee's instead - which seemed fitting as it was the first place we ever went to dinner and the place where he met with my dad a week earlier.
we spent the rest of the night together, on the phone with my parents and his gram, then visiting my sis & bri and skyping with my parents, then visiting my aunt & cousin.
so, there you have it :)
Josh - i love you. i'm so excited. and i'm still in shock. :)
rachel was nice enough to snap some quick pics. hopefully i'll get some more from her later with her super lens showing the amazing-ness of my ring!!!

another wedding weekend
well, another weekend here and gone, with another wedding...and it's the last day of August!? where has the time gone...
this past weekend was our good friends Dustin & Laurel's wedding. Josh has known Dustin since high school, and technically i've known Laurel since before i was born...(her dad married my parents and have been friends for 30ish years). we were honored to be asked to sing at their wedding their choice: "Won't Stop" by One Republic. it went very well, we received lots of compliments on how good it was. Josh also played the 25 minute prelude and other random bits before the official start of the ceremony.
the wedding was beautiful, the weather was beautiful, the food was delicious, and we all had a great time. i'm so happy for our wonderful friends!
one more wedding to go (Sept 12) then this wedding-crazy summer is over!

yes, i do suck.
at keeping up on blog posts, that is!
i have "exciting" things happening to me, that interest me...but i'm sure they won't interest you, poor readers.
oh well, here it goes:
Saturday we celebrated Nicole & Matt's upcoming wedding with her bridal shower at the Sloppy Duck. it was a lot of fun, yummy food, and my mum seemed to know EVERYONE there. just so happens that she graduated high school with Matt's mum so they are all pretty good friends.
Sunday was my parents 29th wedding anniversary. they are such a crazy couple! they invited Josh and I to The Cove [the "seafood capital" of Erie, according to Josh :)] for dinner and we had a fun time eating, laughing, and venturing around the dock with them.

birthday girl!
today is the final SKANK birthday. Katie turns 25 today!!
Katie became my neighbor when i moved to Harborcreek, and noticing our similarities in clumsiness, dorky-ness, creativity, and playing stupid games, we became instant friends. it's also because of her i know all the SKANK's!! thanks kt for befriending me in my nerdiest of days.

i really should blog...
nothing has really been going on here. i have no pictures to post (a certain blushing bride took my camera on her honeymoon and has been spending time now they are home taking pictures of her cat...), and nothing else really exciting has been going on.
summer has been good so far. haven't been able to enjoy our beautiful presque isle beaches however and it's rained most of July.
Nicole's bridal shower is this weekend, Katie's wedding reception for her Pittsburgh friends is next weekend, Nicole's surprise bachelorette party (that she knows about) is in 3 weeks, and Josh and i are performing (me = singing, him = guitar) at a friend's wedding the last weekend in August. busy, busy month!!
anyway, here are some pics i jacked from my sis, who photographed Katie's wedding. Katie is doing all her own editing, so these are just a few sample photos rach sent to me when i bugged the crap outta her ;)

these red walls were awesome! too bad it was only in the stairwell...
also, i bought these awesome shoes from marshall's last night...1/2 the price that i found them for online!! except they are pewter and black, not bronze and bright.

surprises!
Saturday the girls [SKANK's + Jen (maid of honor)] went with Nikkie to look for wedding dresses. we tried on a few dresses that we liked for bridesmaids...buuut i don't think we found anything we were really set on. Nikkie narrowed her choices down to two favorites from that day, both amazingly beautiful and look even better on her.
yesterday night Josh surprised me with flowers. he was going to surprise me with coming over, but since i told him i might be asleep by 930 he had to warn me ahead of time he was coming. the pictures suck because they were from my phone this morning since my camera has been at work all week. anyway, he's so sweet :)

this morning i read about the Obama's hiring an unlicensed designer to design their private quarters at the white house. the article i read is here at Hoechstetter Interiors and i found it through ProsperbyDesign's twitter. i find it very interesting...granted, i'm not a licensed designer, but i do have a degree in interior design. if the white house is allowed to use a non-licensed designer in a "state" that requires licensing...wouldn't this cause uproar in all those other states that require it? however, according to this article, it says the white house isn't technically on "district" land, so licensure isn't actually required...but it's interesting anyway.
