totes, probs, ushe

now that all my favorite SKANK's are graduated, we all migrated from our @college-of-our-choice.edu email addresses and moved on to gmail accounts. what's awesome about this is the gmail chat application that runs right in your browser! which allows those of us w/ 730ish-530ish [or whenever kt or kc leave the office] jobs to be able to keep in contact a lot easier...and all day.

it started with a little chatting during the day. it turned into an exercise in abbreviation, trying not to laugh so hard as to attract too much attention from our other coworkers and a way to create our own language [or discover words on our own that have already been created].

below are the definitions to a few of our favorite abbrev'd words. thanks to Urban Dictionary, i don't have to do all the explaining.

1. totes - abbreviation for "totally" [i apologize for any bad language in Urban Dictionary's definitions] [best when said w/ other abbrev'd words, ex: "totes inapprops"]
   
2. probs - shorter version of "probably"
3. ushe - slang for "usual" [we use this to describe what we (kc, kt & i) usually do on Saturday nights - wait for kt & mikey j to drive up from pittsburgh, hang out at dustin's, watch iNSPiRAL practice and play games or hang out till the wee hours of the morning]
4. ACLS - this doesn't have a definition yet, as i'm going to have to create it, because we TOTES made this completely up. Means Accidental Caps Lock Syndrome. this happens when you are typing in one program and your caps lock is on, and you switch over to a chat program and type all caps and your friends think you're either super excited about something or mad at them.

i know some people are not a fan of the totes/probs/ushe [most of the guys in my life like to say it just to tease us girls...which is even funnier - exept mikey j, he supports it.]...but it's fun for us girls and we loveeee it.

saturday my sister and i planned on taking my mum "flower shopping" for her mother's day gift. somehow it ended up being a whole family outing with my dad as well. we piled in my dad's new Nissan Murano [despite the large TV in the trunk], and set out on our way. i'm glad that even though we may fight and get on each other's nerves...it always ends up in laughter.

i made the Cookie Dough Cupcakes thanks to Big Red Kitchen's recipe/idea. i was going to make the cookie dough, but i opted for some pre-made dough. rach helped me make them, and we were in quite a hurry, so we had to cool the cuppies in the freezer while we made the frosting. i used the frosting recipe also suggested at Big Red Kitchen. personally, it all turned out amazing. [plus, the mocha cupcakes that are suggested with that frosting look like a great one to try...]

rach said that i should start blogging about all the weight i gain from all the cuppies i make. can't say i've noticed any additional weight gain...but it did inspire me to try to do some sort of "healthy" cupcake. i'm not really sure what to do here. some ideas include:

• using applesauce instead of oil
• zucchini, banana or carrot cupcakes [doesn't necessarily mean healthy...but...it could be...]

ok, so those are my only ideas really. anyone have any other suggestions??

poll time!

i know i'm going to be making some cupcakes for saturday night...but i'm not sure what to make! i want to do something i haven't done before [because it's no fun to document something i've already done...]

so here are a few options:

kc found these at Big Red Kitchen. they look REALLY good, but i don't know if i want to go through the hassle of making the cookie dough. plus, cookie dough isn't my specialty...




chocolate-mint cupcakes
kc found these at chockylit. if i do these, however, i'm probably going to end up filling them differently...i don't know if i can do the complexity that seems to be in these.




strawberry cupcakes
kc found these from Martha Stewart. there's no icing recipe, but i'm sure i could come up with something good for this...

Meyer Raspberry Lemon Cupcakes

i found this at Martha Stewart also. these look really good to me....mmmm. and i'm sure there could be a surprise put in the center...

other options are to do the raspberry filled ones again, but do them with chocolate cake instead of the white, or do the Hot Cocoa Cupcakes with some sort of injection in them as well....

anyway, i'm going to put all these into a poll that will end Friday, and possibly, i will make the cupcakes that win [hah, i might find something i'm too set on and change my mind...]

weekend surprises!

my first weekend surprise came Friday afternoon when i found out that the powerpoint i had done for Saturday night service at our church was the WRONG SONGS. that kind of sucked. luckily, it was easy enough to copy and paste the right songs/lyrics into the slides and use the same formatting and pictures as before.

my second weekend surprise came Friday night at about 11:00pm when one of my best friend's [kt] called me to tell me she got ENGAGED!!! [check out her blog for a few more pics and later on, the full story!]. below is her ring and the happy couple the day after the event.

kristen, kt and i celebrated with dinner/appetizers at Plymouth, then champagne and the third "surprise" [if one can call it a surprise]. iNSPiRAL's practice space [aka, Dustin's garage] was turned into a mini show for us! Couches, coffee tables and a great view of the boys. we got to hear their full set and they sounded awesome!!!

maybe the fourth surprise would be the emergence of this little guy...a nasty millipede! kt somehow caught it under this cup, where we left it, and ran to watch the boys.

i guess that is it for surprises. however, i did go to Target and purchase the cupcake carrier and 13-cupcake holder that i wanted. i also did some shopping for a special someone's birthday coming up.

so, i mean, i'm pretty obsessed with cupcakes. i found this recipe when searching today on what to make for tomorrow [small group - sissy's bday celebrationish thing]. also, there should be some leftovers for the ushe saturday.


"Hot Cocoa Marshmallow Cupcakes". mmmmmm!! recipe found here. you know what else is cool - when you go to print off the recipe, it prints off the nutritional information as well! pretty cool.
